EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES IN NURSE EDUCATION

Highlights and Benefits

Faculty shortages at nursing schools across the country are limiting student capacity at a time when the need for nurses continues to grow. Nursing faculty roles are different today than they have ever been before. We are faced with providing education to increasing numbers of diverse student populations often with decreasing clinical availability. The technological gap between our more experienced educators and our students who grew up with computers finds some of us trying to keep up with the very students we are trying to teach! How do we deliver consistently effective nursing education in light of these challenges? For many, the answer is to integrate technology into nursing education and to use tools to reach larger groups consistently and more effectively.

Contemporary Forums’ new conference, Emerging Technologies in Nurse Education, is designed to help you work with some of the newer technical innovations as well as give you a glimpse at tools that may be available to you in the near future. Explore sessions such as designing case simulations to enhance critical thinking skills, learn how to implement online testing, and simulations or PDAs, and integrate web activities into your curriculum.

Bring your laptop and prepare to give your fall curriculum a tune-up with on-site guidance from these experts. Complimentary wireless connection is available in the hands-on sessions.

Highlights & Benefits:

  • A Hands-On Preconference that addresses how to develop acute case scenarios for human patient simulation.

  • Concurrent Sessions that include hands-on practice with effective educational tools.

  • Opportunity to network with colleagues and a nationally-known faculty.

  • Key topics including Simulation, Virtual Clinical Experiences, Online Testing, Hybrid E-Learning, PDAs and other tools to enhance your curriculum.

  • Poster presentations and displays — learn what is out there and how it is being used.

Take advantage of this opportunity to update your curriculum and fine tune your instructional skills in working with selected educational technology. We look forward to seeing you in Seattle, the “Emerald City,” during the most beautiful time of the year!
